I has me a logo!

Well, after taking my sweet time over it, here's my finished logo!
I went with the name Rare Candy as I thought it was an interesting name and it's also an item from the Pokemon, which I love more than my own sister! Enjoy and if anyone knows a better way to do the shiny bits coming from the sweet let me know as I'm not as happy with it as I could be...

Purusing the internet today I found a pretty good stop motion piece with Lego guys, It's surprisingly smooth and has some really funny moments!
You may want to just watch it on youtube as it seems to have had half of it cut off here...

Tynemouth Undersea safari!

Yesterday me and justine went to take videos of fishies! I came along because I've always been fascinated by sea creatures and wanted to see some new ones! And oh my goodness I had a good time! I saw a blue lobster, various stingrays, turtles, dorys and nemos and lots of crabs! There were some small monkeys for some reason too, but I didn't like them as much aas they seemed intent to flash their testicles at every opportunity!
Seeing this multitude of creatues inspired me to apply my new findings to a future animation, maybe an undersea adventure or a land fish of some sort!

Reflection and such.

As it's the last week I thought I'd take a look back at how much I've developed my skills in the past 2 years.
Looking back at my old animation I realise just how far I've come, the small problems I had with my XYZ animation I can deal with really easily now and my better understanding of the programs I use means I can create much better looking assets and animation, the rough edges are now gone from the edges of my characters and scenery and the quality of the linework has gotten much better, you can make out small details and everything!
I also feel my basic drawing skills have improved vastly and my rationality and problem solving abilities have been tested and improved too.
I think my worst area is time management, I always seem to doss about for too long at the beginning of a project and then end up rushing my last bits of work, I'm happy with what I end up with, but with better time management I feel it would be better to get my animating done early and then have time to go back and correct any bits that don't work.

Final Show!

Had a rather informative presentation today about our ideas for the final show, What I arrived at was several cut out dinosaurs in the style of my vomiting one, these can be used for photo opportunities too, I've been playing with the idea of having one with his arm out so you can drape it round yourself for a pal photo! Those seaside pictures with the wholes in I thought about too, I'm thinking of a way to do that so it looks like you're getting chomped by a T rex!
An Idea put foreward by Lee was to do them in the style of those polystyerene planes we all used to get when we were younger, I want to suspend a pterodactyl from the ceiling, but after that I though about having his wings through his body on a seperate bit of board, maybe have his face like a V shape that I can stick onto the end of his neck to make it look 3D!
Also I want to do a big mural on my board with a landscape depicting lots of silly goings on and stuff, as well as displaying my flat work on a board beside it if I can work out how much space I'll have.
Another Idea I want to persue is that of a noticeboard, as I have a lot of initial sketches and rough work, I could get hold of a medium sized one and simply pin the paper based work to it, creating a messy look for the scrappy sketches I have an abundance of!
And stickers, big Dinosaur foot-shaped ones leading up to my space, that would be awesome, I could have a couple with trodden on insects and animals too to break them up and add some variety!
So many ideas, so little time! :3

An update!

Thought I'd share with you guys the set for my animation, I simply created three boxes, cut off the side where the camera would be and then slotted them together, then as I'm using a fixed camera for most of my shots all the assets are flat plains inserted parallel to the missing face. I whacked some textures onto the other faces to create the walls, ceiling and floor then stuck some lighting in.
the characters are all a hierachy except Fangs who has a spiffy little rig going on for himself, more shots and scenes will follow!
